Behind the scenes on the Road to Perdition

The article in the August/September 2002 issue of Mystery News begins like this:

It was my mother's fault that I was hired as an extra for the new Tom Hanks movie. After Dreamworks Pictures issued a casting call, my mother told me I should send in my photo like she did. I don't argue with my mother, and I did as I was told. For some reason, they picked me over her. That just goes to show, there's no accounting for taste.

I was cast as a bank clerk in a pivotal scene with Hanks who plays Michael Sullivan, a hitman with a special agenda...
