Lydia Chin's Chinatown: Sharon Zukowski gets the tour of Chinatown in NY from S.J. Rozan

 

 

 

 

32 Mott Street is the oldest continuously operated store in Chinatown, run by the great- grandnephew of its founder. (Note: there was a sheriff’s notice of eviction posted on the window on the day of our tour; so the future of the store appears to be in jeopardy.) This is the model for Grandfather Gao’s herb shop, with “...dark wood cabinets with their small drawers, the brass urns and ceramic jars...” (Reflecting The Sky)
